Pratham was founded with UNICEF in 1994. Pratham works towards the provision of quality education to underprivileged children in India, with supporting chapters around the world. It now reaches 3 million primary aged children each year.

Rajendra Joshi a social entrepreneur, has been doing development work the urban and rural poor in India through Saath, the NGO he founded in 1989, and now with various social enterprises focusing on vocational training and employment in the BOP segment and affordable housing in Gujarat and Rajasthan. He has been awarded the title Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2009 by the Schwab Foundation, UNDP and CII and was listed amongst 50 “Social Entrepreneurs” by Business Outlook magazine in its Sep 5th 2009 issue. He was also awarded the Karmaveer Puraskaar by ICONGO in the category “Real Wealth Creators for the Communities” in Nov 2008, was listed amongst 50 “Pioneers of Change” by India Today magazine in its Jul 8th issue.
Janak Palta McGilligan is an Indian social worker and the founding trustee and vice chairperson of Jimmy McGilligan Centre For Sustainable Development, an Indore based non governmental organization working for sustainable community development. Dr Janak Palta McGilligan continues to be Member, Board of Directors of the Barli Development Institute For Rural Women since 1985. She is a recipient of Manav Seva Award, Sadbhavana Samman and Paryavaran Mitra Puraskar, was honoured by the Government of India in 2015 with Padma Shri, the fourth highest Indian civilian award.
